Experimental and statistical investigation on the performance of asphalt overlays reinforced with geocomposite in controlling the reflective cracks under different loadings and temperatures

Abstract One of the easiest method to repair old pavement is apply an overlay on them. However, deteriorated affects performance by propagating existing cracks upwards due stress and strain concentration from loading temperature variations. Today, using asphalt overlays reinforced with geosynthetic interlayers one most effective methods prevent reflective cracking. This paper investigates effects temperature, bending fatigue frequency geocomposite tensile strength experimentally. The crack initiation its propagation rate were analyzed help image processing technique statistically. obtained results revealed that has greatest effect cracking rate, so increasing 20 40 °C in addition growth changing vertical deformation under load, direction formation changes, besides cracks, top-down also appear. Furthermore at higher more than 10 Hz, even samples geocomposite, 0 will increase between 5 30 times. coefficients determination (R 2 ) Adjusted R are equal 0.9936 0.9907, respectively, indicating satisfactory prediction model compared real observations.
